About Us

The path to founding Joules Electric wasn’t a straight line; it wasn’t even a single line. However, every step taught me the value of hard work, family, and true craftsmanship.

After serving in the Air Force as a jet engine mechanic, I returned home to Edinburg. While factory work was available and would provide a roof over my head, it didn’t fulfill my desire to find myself in a trade.

After starting a family, I took a leap, and a pay cut, to learn the electrical trade from the ground up. I put in the miles, first working for a small shop in Winchester, then commuting to D.C. and NOVA for the Union, eventually earning my Journeyman’s license and then working close to home with a local family-owned company, Trumbo Electric.

I spent the next decade working as a staff journeyman for EchoStar while supporting our growing family of three amazing kids. They fueled my drive as I earned my Master Electrical License and officially launched Joules Electric part-time on my days off. 

Balancing a 7-day workweek eventually caught up with me, and I wanted to spend more time with my kids. I wasn’t ready to take the leap to full-time, so I sought stability and spent a few years in management roles within the gas service and remodeling industries, learning invaluable lessons in business while building businesses for others. Despite these valuable experiences, my heart never left the trade.

26 years later, our kids are grown, and my wife is building a career she loves. Two of our three kids are married, and we have two beautiful granddaughters. Now, the dream of Joules Electric is fully alive again, where I aim to provide local jobs and create a company that offers professional, high-quality service the Shenandoah Valley deserves.
